A milestone worth celebrating: Next year, the university—founded in 1877 as a school of arts and crafts—will look back on 150 years of education, innovation, and creative energy. With a festive anniversary week, the university invites students, alumni, partners, and the public to experience the past, present, and future together.

A sneak peek at the festivities is already available. As part of a student project in the Visual Communication program’s Corporate Design module, led by Professor Michael Throm and Harald Koch, students presented a wide variety of design concepts for the “150 Years of Pforzheim University” anniversary logo. First place went to student Anna Marchena Rodriguez. Her logo design stood out for its clear and contemporary visualization of the university’s core values. Using an abstracted lens as a symbol of perspective, focus, and insight, the design convincingly conveys the anniversary motto “150 Years – 150 Perspectives.”

Jan Engert secured second place, and Johannes Obser took third place. The prizes were generously awarded by the Pforzheim University Foundation, which, together with its partners, has been supporting projects to promote research, teaching, and the next generation of scholars at the university since 2020.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, there will be numerous events and activities at the university and throughout the city—ranging from creative initiatives to engaging panel discussions. One thing is already certain: The university’s 150th anniversary will bring Pforzheim to life and foster connections in a special way.
